It is Election Day in the Tri-State Polls and voters in various parts of the community have many important issues, races, and tax levies to consider.
Arguably, one of the hottest issues on the ballot is Ohio Issue Three, which would give the state permission to build four casinos, one possible in the city of Cincinnati. Proponents say it would create 40,000 jobs but opponents say those figures tax revenue projections are exaggerated.
In the city of Cincinnati, voters will decide Issue 9, popularly known as the Streetcar Issue. It would block the city from spending any money on passenger rail without going to voters from approval. Supporters say it will hold the government accountable for the spending of tax dollars on transportation but opponents say the issue would lead to the exclusion of Cincinnati from national and regional rail lines.
Cincinnati voters also have a mayoral election and city council members to choose. And several school districts, including Winton Woods, have levies on the ballot. There are also levies for the Hamilton County Public Library, the Cincinnati Museum Center, MRDD, and drug treatment services on the ballot.
