Cincinnati Police plan to push for metal detectors or wands at Aiken High School after a student was arrested for bringing a gun to school this morning.
The principal of Aiken High School in College Hill called officers after receiving a tip this morning that one student was showing the gun to another student. He also put the school on lockdown.
Police arrived, searched the building, and found the.32 snubnose in a jacket pocket inside the student's locker. The 18 year old student, Terron Cornelison, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm in a school and inducing panic.
One school employee suffered a minor injury during the incident but was not taken to the hospital. The school lockdown was lifted after about an hour.
School resource officers say this is the second incident at Aiken in recent history and police believe the school needs metal detectors or wands to keep the student body safe.
